Parker’s phone beeped with a notification. She picked up the phone and gasped as she read the tweet from her best friend, Bethany.

“What is it?” Gabe asked with a mouthful of popcorn.

“Listen to this tweet from Bethany.” Parker tapped the notification and pulled up the full tweet. “‘I am the only single person out of all my friends. We are going to be locked down for months, and they’ll come out pregnant, engaged, or married. Tinder can’t even help me now.’ Did she forget that I am her best friend and severely single?”

“Tweet her back,” Gabe offered. “You can do that, right? Publicly declare you’re single too?”

Yes, she rarely posted on social media, but she could write a tweet to her best friend.

Parker picked up a handful of popcorn and threw it at him.

“I’m not cleaning that up,” Sami vehemently stated with an arched brow.

“Fine, I’ll tweet her back.” Parker picked up her phone and thought carefully before her fingers flew across the screen to type her response. “If you forgot, let me remind you. I am single too. Your best friend since we turned five. Did the mountain air zap all your brain cells?” She tapped to post her response when another response popped up. “One of her guy friends replied. ‘As a male friend of yours you might not remember my status, but I am single, living with my sister, and our three-year-old bulldog. I cannot stress how single I don’t want to be right now.’”

“He sounds perfect for you. Who is he?” Sami asked and tried to grabbed Parker’s phone.

Parker pulled her phone out of Sami’s reach then checked to see who Bethany’s other friend was. She pulled up the profile to find out he worked with Bethany at The Feed, an online news and entertainment outlet. Bethany wrote lifestyle articles while this man seemed more entertainment focused. “His name is Winston Walsh. He works with Bethany. She talks about him all the time. He’s like her work big brother, I guess.” Bethany lived in Denver while Parker still lived near Kansas City.

She looked at Winston’s profile picture to find a headshot of a man with lush chocolate brown curls, two-day stubble, and a smile that made her stomach quiver. The reflection of mountains in his aviator sunglasses added to the allure of an adventurous man in his prime.

Her phone beeped again, and Parker noticed a reply from Bethany. “She says, ‘@WinWalsh21 and @Parker_E_Adams you two have no reason to be single, you are perfect for each other. If you lived in the same city, I would’ve set you up ages ago.’ Oh.” Parker did not expect that response. Why would she think that?

“Seriously?” Sami got ahold of Parker’s phone when she tried again. “Whoa, he’s hot. Not Gabe hot, but hot.”

“Thanks, darling.” Gabe pecked Sami on the cheek and looked at the phone with her. “Look! He’s responded.”

Parker groaned as Sami read the reply.

“‘No better time to start something long distance. What do you say, @Parker_E_Adams? How about a virtual date?’ He really just asked you out on Twitter!” Sami shoved the phone in Parker’s face.
