Trent Daniels only has one regret in life. Nearly fifteen years ago, he let his high school crush, Abby Hoffman, go off to college in New York City without telling her how he felt. Ever since, he’s wondered what would have happened if he’d been bold enough to tell her his feelings.
Abigail Hoffman left Ohio behind long ago and with it the family that had taken her in and embraced her as one of their own. She’s missed the Daniels family, but she couldn’t bring herself to face them again—not after what happened. Now her job has brought her back to the place she’s done her best to avoid and right smack into Trent Daniels.
I received What Might Have Been for free. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
After Chris, Gage, and Paul Daniels find their happily ever after, it it finally Trent’s turn. But his story has a twist that I didn’t expect. Trent’s dream girl is Chris’s ex-girlfriend, Abigail Hoffman.
Abby was a staple in the Daniels home her entire childhood. She was the daughter Marilyn Daniels always wanted. Trent being a year younger than Abby was shy about confessing his feelings, but older brother Chris wasn’t. Eventually, Abby and Chris go their separate ways leading Abby to New York City, but neither Trent or Abby forgot about each other.
Fast-forward over a decade to find Abby back in town to help her best guy friend and his families struggling property management company. Trent owns a successful landscaping firm hired to bring those properties back to life. Abby is his liaison and here is where the sauciness begins.
I love how Hayes brings the long held feelings vibrantly into the present. With secrets and overwhelming feelings, Hayes brings us a story we can all fall in love with. I was able to rejoice when the steam got hot, shed more than a few tears when the truth came to light, and laugh when things got saucy. Sherri Hayes continues to write love stories that we crave to turn the pages to find out the next juicy detail.
