A Scottish scoundrel…
Gerard Highgate, Marquess of Rockport and the ton’s most aloof rake, knows better than to wed an Englishwoman, especially one as prickly as Lady Cordelia. But when his mother dies and he finds himself saddled with her debts, he needs a wife and he needs one fast.
An exacting Englishwoman…
Lady Cordelia knows that hastiness in husband hunting leads to mistakes. But when she visits an aristocrat to warn that his life might be in danger, he misinterprets her suggestion to flee to Scotland.
An unexpected elopement…
Most elopements are born of love, not misunderstanding. Cordelia and Gerard have already broken that rule, but perhaps they can still make their marriage one of love.
I received A Rogue to Avoid for free. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Also in this series: How to Capture a DukeBeing perfect is the hardest thing a woman living in Regency England can be. Your hair in the latest style. The best fabric for your gown. The straightest posture while standing beside a dance floor. But Lady Cordelia Haywood is the closest one could be. Unfortunately, her perfection backfired.
A Scottish Rouge running from an evil henchman stumbles into a ball. Gerard Highgate, Marquess of Rockport values his fingers and his life, yet both have been threatened. To avoid either, he grabs Lady Cordelia and thrusts her to the dance floor.
This is a clear story of opposites don’t attract. The only reason Cordelia goes to Gerard in the first place is to warn him of a man out to kill him. For her trouble she gains a fiancé and a fantastical journey to fall in love on. Gerard hated Cordelia’s perfection, but learned to love the woman she really was. As Cordelia and Gerard race to outrun a murderer, they go on an adventure neither ever dreamed of. One situations after another, Blythe puts up roadblocks for the unconventional couple. I craved the next page to see where each step would finally lead them. By land and by sea, the pair fight against evil and I loved every second of it.
Blythe has another best-seller on her hands with the second story in the Matchmaking for Wallflowers series. She took me on another journey of romance, passion, and lives in peril. I can’t wait for another installment of this series!
