An Ancient Secret Has Risen. A World In Peril. Can This Evil Menace Be Stopped?

Two months after being infected with a strange retrovirus, Cassidy Jones continues to live a double life as she struggles to master her astonishing superpowers. School has become the only normal thing left in her life—except for tall, dark, and handsome Emery Phillips, who shadows her every move, ensuring her secret is safe. But when a sleepover at Catamount Mountain Zoo takes a menacing turn, the world hovers on the edge of disaster as Cassidy is drawn into another riveting and perilous mystery that threatens the planet.

I received Cassidy Jones and Vulcan's Gift (Cassidy Jones Adventures, #2) for free. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Cassidy Jones and The Secret Formula was only the beginning for the accidental superhero. Cassidy is back in her next adventure, Cassidy Jones and Vulcan’s Gift.

Once again, the brilliant cover art by Kelly Carter from Mad Spider Studio drew me in and had me excited to read the first page. After that, it was all uphill.

Cassidy had me on the edge of my seat throughout the novel. She fought a huge snake, jumped out of trees onto car hoods, and dealt with a mysterious man in a silver suit all with friend, Emery, by her side. The action set a great pace to the novel and couldn’t stop myself from reading just a little bit more even when exhaustion was setting in. After a bit of sleep, I went back and re-read and it was just as brilliant as it was the first time.

I was so excited to read the relationship develop between Emery and young Miss Cassidy. Although she still seems to have lingering feelings for a boy she had known most of her life, she is still gravitating towards Emery. If you haven’t noticed, I am 100% Team Emery! I can’t wait for their next adventure, Cassidy Jones and the Seventh Attendant, due out winter 2012.

About Elise Stokes

Elise Stokes lives with her husband and four children. She was an elementary school teacher before becoming a full-time mom. With a daughter in middle school and two in high school, Elise’s understanding of the challenges facing girls in that age range inspired her to create a series that will motivate girls to value individualism, courage, integrity, and intelligence. The stories in Cassidy Jones Adventures are fun and relatable, and a bit edgy without taking the reader uncomfortably out of bounds.
