If adventure has a name...it must be Lady India Rochester. The intrepid archaeologist possesses a sharp blade and an even sharper knack for uncovering history's forgotten women. Unfortunately, she has one annoying weakness: the dangerously handsome Duke of Ravenwood. Former best friend. Current enemy. And the man who dared to break her heart.
Daniel Bonds, the Duke of Ravenwood, is a thrill-seeking antiquities hunter who only plays by one rule: Never fall in love. He's in it for the fortune and glory. At least that's what he wants the world to think. He's sworn to hide his tangled web of secrets, especially from the one woman he cares about and will protect at any cost.
But when a priceless relic is stolen from the British Museum, the rivals must align forces. Racing to recover the stolen antiquity and avert an international disaster? All in a day's work. Avoiding their buried feelings? More and more impossible. For love is about to become the greatest treasure of all.
The grand adventure begins...now!
I received For the Duke's Eyes Only for free. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Lady India Rochester dreamed of adventure with her best friend who also happened to be her betrothed since birth. Daniel Bonds was more than willing to be by Indy’s side every step of the way until his father’s death. Becoming the Duke of Ravenwood at such a young age and the ripples of his father’s death make the new Raven cut Indy out of his life. Their marriage contract is never officially dissolved, but neither of them felt the need to marry anyone else.
I was a tad skeptical of this novel at first. The prologue ripped my heart and once I arrived at chapter one, I thought I might cry through the entire novel. When adult Indy and Raven meet and exchange barbs, I knew I was in for a rough and tumble romance. Bell created dynamic characters with emotional layers that get stripped away through the adventure the duo always dreamed of taking.
This is the second book in the School for Dukes series. I haven’t read the first, What a Difference a Duke Makes, featuring Indy’s older brother, Edgar. I didn’t feel lost jumping right in, but I will definitely go read Edgar and Mari’s journey. I am anxiously awaiting any new novels in this series while I gobble up the rest of Bell’s previous works.
